Fort Komenda is a historic European fort situated in the town of Komenda, along the central coast of Ghana, west of Elmina and Cape Coast. It stands as one of the many colonial-era forts and castles that were constructed by European powers between the 15th and 19th centuries along the Gold Coast (modern-day Ghana), which played a pivotal role in global maritime tradeβespecially the transatlantic slave trade.
